Leksell Vantage: Neurosurgery’s trusted stereotactic system

Neurosurgery

Dr Rick Schuurman, a Functional neurosurgeon, explains why he trusts the Elekta Vantage Stereotactic System to deliver exceptional neurosurgical outcomes.

What is new in the vantage frame compared to the previous stereotactic system?
-    It is one size only – one size fits all
-    One piece – no assembly needed
-    Easy to clean so no need to send to sterilization department after use

He demonstrates the features and advantages of the Vantage frame, arc, and ring, and how they can be used to determine the X, Y, and Z coordinates of the target in the brain.

Arc:
Arc attaches to the frame, and it has hands which can be used to determine the angles needed. You can vary the arc angle depending on which side needs targeting.

X, Y and Z coordinates:
These move sideways on the arc to create a 3-dimensional MRI image which can be used to determine the location of the target in the brain.

Clear and precise imaging allows for greater clinician confidence that electrodes will end up where targeted.

The Elekta Leksell Vantage Stereotactic System is a system you can trust for exceptional stereotactic neurosurgery results. It offers a simple and intuitive workflow, a comfortable and secure patient fixation, and a high level of accuracy and versatility.
