MR-guided radiotherapy: Elekta Unity

What is MOMENTUM
MOMENTUM is a collaborative research initiative that leverages data from every patient treated on the MR-Linac Unity. This groundbreaking opportunity allows for the collection of detailed information—such as tumor characteristics, treatment parameters, and imaging data—which is then used for scientific research and product development.

How is patient data collected and used?
Patient data is only collected with informed consent. Patients are fully informed about how their data will be used and can choose to:

  • Opt out entirely
  • Allow use of their data without any additional scan time
  • Fully participate

Patients maintain complete control over their data at all times.

How do patients feel about participating?
The response has been overwhelmingly positive:

  • Most patients are eager to contribute, knowing their data can drive medical advancements
  • Many participate altruistically, understanding that while they may not benefit directly, future patients will

When will we see results from MOMENTUM?
Thanks to a shared data platform across institutions, physicists and researchers can easily access and analyze the information. This enables:

  • Technical studies
  • Continuous innovation in treatment planning and product development

MOMENTUM is an ongoing data collection effort, paving the way for the future of personalized radiotherapy and imaging.
