Leksell Gamma Knife® Lightning, the next generation treatment optimizer from Elekta, allows users to quickly and automatically create plans for one or more targets. Optimization based on dose constraints for multiple targets and OAR (organs at risk), together with the possibility to control beam-on-time, enables the reduction of treatment times, while potentially increasing the overall quality of LGK treatments. The ability to apply a beam-on-time (BOT) penalty synchronizes the BOT of each sector and also priorities multiple shots in the same isocenter location. This automatic optimization of shot and sector delivery creates a treatment plan with the most efficient delivery parameters and sequence, leading to better time utilization during treatment.
