A simple solution for accelerated radiosurgery

Leksell Gamma Knife® Lightning, the next generation treatment optimizer from Elekta, allows users to quickly and automatically create plans for one or more targets. Optimization based on dose constraints for multiple targets and OAR (organs at risk), together with the possibility to control beam-on-time, enables the reduction of treatment times, while potentially increasing the overall quality of LGK treatments. Lightning represents a significant step forward for the already efficient workflows of the integrated LGK system.

Dose optimization at lightning speed

Now you can optimize the dose to targets at a very high speed, with a highly efficient beam-on-time penalization. This results in expertly built plans in less than a minute and significant savings in the duration of treatment.

Constraints-based optimization

Multiple and simultaneous hard constraints such as dose to target and sparing of OAR introduced first time in practical setting. This, in turn, gives the ability to plan for multiple targets and organs-at-risk (OAR) in a single plan, thereby saving a significant amount of planning time.

Multiple plans in less than a minute

Create high quality conformal plans, with additional benefit of potentially better Beam-on-time control. Each of these different plans with different objectives can be created in less than a minute per plan. This makes it easy to compare plans and choose the most appropriate plan for your patient.

Potential to deliver plans up to 50% faster*

The ability to apply a beam-on-time (BOT) penalty synchronizes the BOT of each sector and also prioritizes multiple shots in the same isocenter location. This automatic optimization of shot and sector delivery creates a treatment plan with the most efficient delivery parameters, leading to better time utilization during treatment.
