Simplified alternative to traditional radiation therapy

Elekta Xoft offers patients and physicians a simplified alternative to traditional six-week radiation therapy for early-stage breast cancer treatment. With the Elekta Xoft® Axxent® Electronic Brachytherapy (eBx®) System®, delivery of radiation therapy in the operating room at the time of surgery is possible with intraoperative radiation therapy (IORT).

Elekta is the authorized exclusive distributor of Xoft products in Brachytherapy. Xoft products are manufactured by Xoft Inc. and may not be available in all markets.

Deliver a single fraction dose

IORT may be utilized to deliver a single fraction or boost dose for breast cancer treatment. Indications currently under investigation include prostate, pancreatic, colorectal and brain cancers.

The Axxent balloon applicators are a key component of Elekta Xoft, empowering targeted delivery of intracavitary and intraoperative radiation therapy. The range of applicators may be filled with varying volumes of saline to best fit the contour of the surgical cavity and allow delivery of a more conformal radiation dose.

Inserted through a single incision, the balloon catheters provide a channel for the miniaturized, x-ray source to deliver isotope-free, high dose rate, low energy radiation treatment. Combined with the comprehensive capabilities of Elekta Xoft, the balloon applicators offer an attractive option to physicians and patients for improved flexibility, precision and personalization in the targeted treatment of breast cancer.
