Via the ASRT Foundation, the scholarship helps provide financial assistance for the training of future RTTs

Through the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) Foundation, the Elekta Radiation Therapy Scholarship provides a $5,000 endowment to support aspiring U.S.-based radiation therapists. Elekta has named six students as winners of the company’s 2025–2026 scholarship, assisting them as they complete their clinical training and prepare to enter the field.

“For nearly 20 years Elekta has shown support of qualified radiation therapists entering the workforce through this scholarship,” said Steve Hardy, chief operating officer for the ASRT Foundation and executive vice president of development and corporate relations. “Their steadfast partnership with the ASRT Foundation allows students vital financial support needed to complete radiation therapy programs amid vacancy rates that are at an all-time high across all radiation therapy and medical imaging practice areas.”

This year’s recipients are Aisha Alamri, Jennifer Allen, Olivia Felder, Sydney Kast, Alyssa Klopatek and Taylor Rice.

Wayne State University radiation therapy student Aisha Alamri describes the Elekta scholarship as more than financial aid – it’s an affirmation of her potential in a field she passionately pursues. Growing up where higher education was never guaranteed, she explains: “This scholarship is not just about money…it’s an uplifting statement of faith that I will be successful and make something of myself in this field.”

With the burden of tuition eased, Aisha can dive deeper into her coursework, clinical rotations, and professional growth – each step bringing her closer to her goal of becoming a medical dosimetrist. Her gratitude extends beyond personal relief – she sees Elekta’s investment as a catalyst that will one day allow her to give back to future students and the broader cancer-care community.

Growing up with a single parent after her father’s death from leukemia, Sydney has shouldered both tuition and living expenses through part-time work – at times at the expense of her grades. She’ll soon begin her senior internship at UW Health Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin, where the inability to work during clinical hours weighed heavily on her mind.

“Receiving this scholarship has relieved that stress, allowing me to concentrate on my education, become the best radiation therapist I can be and give back to others…”

“I have always worried about my finances, which led to a lot of anxiety and overworking myself,” Sydney explains. “Receiving this scholarship has relieved that stress, allowing me to concentrate on my education, become the best radiation therapist I can be and give back to others, just like those who supported both of my parents during their cancer treatments.”

Taylor entered her program worried about financing tuition and living expenses, never expecting to be chosen. When she received the award notification, she says she was “ecstatic” – and profoundly relieved.

“You have given me the reassurance that I deeply needed to keep going and work hard. Worrying less about money gives students more time to think about growth in their personal lives, education and future career.”
