As a legal entity, we (Medical Intelligence Medizintechnik GmbH) became part of Elekta in December 2005, and you will see that we share the common brand and company values in our purpose “To help clinicians improve patients’ lives”.
Our specific areas of expertise are Patient Positioning and Immobilisation solutions, including the fully robotic HexaPOD evo RT System, and all of our products touch the patient. For more product specific information please see the Elekta.com home page.
We are an energetic and focussed fully cross functional team, working on R&D, Product Management, Manufacturing, Supply Chain Management, Quality Assurance, Regulatory Affairs, Product Support & Media Services, HR and Finance. We are located in the south of Germany, close to Munich, and are surrounded by a wealth of resources including an excellent working and living environment, world class educational facilities, specialist suppliers and excellent distribution networks.

We are providing a robotic patient positioning platform guided by an infrared-camera, enabling sub-millimeter patient positioning accuracy in six degrees of freedom an improved clinical workflow and clinical confidence.
We are providing accurate, precise patient positioning and immobilization products, for successful imaging and treatment in radiation therapy.
The Finance department focuses on all activities which are related to Accounting, Controlling, Budgeting, Forecasting and Cost Control, as well as internal and external reporting, thereby ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal controls.
We are a small team, but outsource specific activities to global Elekta colleagues and also use support from external providers. As you would expect, our work is varied and calls for close interaction with many colleagues, suppliers and customers.
We are always the first point of contact for anything to do with the financial side of the business.
Human Resources focus on all activities that relate to our team and work environment. We work closely with management and our Global HR colleagues to develop long-term strategies for performance management, development and growth of our people and the company.
The HR, Administration and Facility team makes everyday life in our office possible. Looking after everything from office management and maintenance, Health and Safety, Data Protection, to IT support, and being the first face to our visitors and customers. We aim to provide an environment that enables the whole company to work to best of their ability, following the Elekta values.
We are a small team focussing on final assembly, inspection, system integration and product testing. We work closely with our suppliers and Supply Chain Management colleagues to operate on a “Build to Order” basis following LEAN principals to maximize value and minimize waste throughout the whole manufacturing process. Our team is multi-skilled which enables everyone to be flexible and work on all of the products in our diverse portfolio.
Our local Product Management team works as part of the global Elekta Treatment Delivery Product Management group, interacting with colleagues in the wider Elekta group and with customers. We are the voice of the market and clinical customer to our other Product Supply centre colleagues.
Our aim is to provide solutions to position the patient precisely and accurately in the same position during the complete treatment course. This can be achieved either through our conventional positioning devices, through our immobilization devices or by positioning the patient with sub-millimetre accuracy using our robotic system.
We are responsible for developing the product strategies for our complete product portfolio as well as for the business case justification, initiation, planning, implementation and coordination of the resulting activities. Working closely with regional colleagues we are also responsible for product profitability analysis and identification of complimentary products from third party vendors.
QA&RA in Schwabmünchen is dedicated to ensuring the compliance of our business and products to meet the requirements of the worldwide market in the ever changing market place. To successfully achieve this, QA&RA work in close collaboration with all areas of the business with a view of building compliance and process improvement at all stages of development, processing, supply, manufacturing and market release.
We are a strong team of engineers and qualified specialists from the faculties of mechanical design, electronics, mechatronics and software. In cooperation with our external partners we develop medical products for Patient Positioning and Immobilisation in Oncology applications.
The role of the R&D department includes the design and development of new products to the latest medical device standards, as well as maintenance of the active product portfolio.
In their final application, these products and systems are key elements of the integrated Elekta solutions used by our clinical customers worldwide.
Our Project Office ensures that we execute all of these activities with the most efficient process control in full compliance with our Quality System, whilst allowing flexibility, ingenuity and agility to be part of our everyday work.
Our strong team of Service Engineers and Technical Specialists operate in the areas of Service Design, Product Support and Lifecycle Management. We care for our products throughout the whole product lifecycle, covering product development, new product introduction, training, installation, clinical use, customer feedback, maintenance and decommissioning. We are the voice of global service staff in supporting the development of reliable products which are easy to maintain. Using the Elekta Help Desk systems allows efficient support and statistical evaluation of our products and activities, and if necessary escalation for us to provide support on site.
The Technical Authors in our team produce target audience orientated documentation for customers and service personnel, using a high end content management system. Using external support resources we also manage translation of all customer documentation and product GUI’s.
We are a strong Supply Chain team covering the areas Purchasing, Order Management and Warehousing. We ensure the smooth supply of our products from procurement to delivery in cooperation with our customers, internal colleagues and suppliers.
Purchasing provide the interface to our suppliers and support the ability to deliver our products through appropriate negotiation, supplier contracts, scheduling agreements and order management. We have a strong focus on cost and lead time reduction and use a sales and order planning process from Order Management to achieve just in time delivery for “Build to Order”. Our Supplier Management systems ensure that suppliers are developed and evaluated annually, and maintain a focus on cost and lead time, whilst maintaining the highest levels of quality and delivery performance.
Order Management is the interface between our Product Supply Centre and our customers, and ensures punctual delivery in compliance with all necessary shipping regulations. Working closely with our colleagues in the Elekta group we ensure the highest visibility of all stages in the “Order to Cash” process.
Our Warehousing team ensure that all materials are delivered in accordance with requirements, stored and made available, just in time for manufacturing. We also prepare all finished goods for final shipment and distribution to our customers.
