ELEKTA TO DELIVER FIRST LEKSELLGAMMA KNIFE UNIT TO RUSSIA

Burdenko NeurosurgicalInstitute in Moscow will add non-invasive brain surgery to itsrange of advanced treatment methods

Recently, Elekta finalized thecontract with Finance Leasing Company (Moscow, Russia) andNeurosurgical Business Center (NBC) for Burdenko NeurosurgicalInstitute to deliver Leksell Gamma Knife, the goldstandard equipment for non-invasive Gamma Knifesurgery. This Leksell Gamma Knife unit is the firstto be installed in Russia, serving a previously unmet need fornon-invasive treatment of small to medium size intracraniallesions.

To date, well over 250,000patients around the world have been treated with Leksell GammaKnife, and each year more than 30,000 new patientsare treated at the close to 200 units installed around the world.

The total payment for the LeksellGamma Knife unit to Burdenko Neurosurgical Institutewill amount to 3,8 MEUR. The order was booked by Elekta inFebruary.
