Stock2009-03-18
Elekta, a human care company pioneering significant innovations and clinical solutions for treating cancer and neurological conditions, today announced collaboration with MedCom GmbH for the joint development of patient position verification management.
Elekta and MedCom have identified product collaboration projects within the Particle Therapy market which will enable the integration of MOSAIQ® Oncology Information Systems from Impac Software , an Elekta Group, with the VeriSuite System, MedCom's high precision patient position verification system. VeriSuite is a collection of software applications that are used in different scenarios to verify and control the position of a patient on a treatment table or a treatment chair.
“MedCom plans to work with Elekta to provide our customers with innovative approaches to high precision patient positioning,” says Prof. Dr Ing Georgios Sakas, Managing Director, MedCom GmbH. “The installation in the Inclined Beam treatment room in ProCure's Treatment and Development Center in Bloomington, Indiana and the new ProCure treatment center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma will benefit from the joint development.”
"Elekta is looking forward to working closely with MedCom to optimize our customers clinical workflow in managing the challenges associated with patient positioning,” says Stewart Pegrum, Global Business Manager for Particle Therapy, Elekta. “The real-time motion data generated by the VeriSuite System introduces new and exciting options which will advance IMPT approaches, as well as provide consolidated data management solutions for our mutual Particle Therapy customers.”
