Elekta Debuts PowerPath v9.5, Featuring a Fully Integrated Advanced Materials Processing Feature at College of American Pathologists Meeting

The Advanced Materials Processing feature set drives cytology and histology workflow


Elekta (booth #618) will introduce the latest release of the PowerPath™ anatomic pathology Laboratory Information System (LIS), featuring the fully integrated Advanced Materials Processing (AMP) feature at the CAP ’10 – THE Pathologists’ Meeting™, September 26-29, at the Hyatt Regency Chicago. This feature greatly enhances laboratory workflow solutions for histology and cytology specimens— improving pathology lab efficiency and reducing errors.

PowerPath’s integrated case materials tracking and management feature uses bar code technology. Case materials are tracked from the point of accession through processing and diagnosis to filing or discard.

PowerPath’s case materials tracking and management feature improves patient safety by enforcing the link between the material and the case record. Each time a specimen, block, slide or vial is scanned, PowerPath displays identifying information, such as patient name or case number—reducing the likelihood the user will process the wrong material or select an incorrect patient.

PowerPath maintains a tracking record of every scanned event, readily available for Client Service functions. At any time, the user can view the event log to quickly locate available, shipped or overdue loaned materials. This feature is compatible with many commonly used bar code scanners and supports several 1D and 2D bar code formats. Laboratories can customize their bar code labels as needed using these formats.
