Assistance
Elekta can provide customized programs such as basic training for new employees, advanced training, clinical support and network services. These activities can boost the level of service of the operation and widen the application areas of the customer's Leksell Gamma Knife®.
To achieve the highest level of reliability and efficacy Cobalt 60 is used as the source of radiation in Leksell Gamma Knife®. The half-life of Cobalt 60 is 5.26 years and a Leksell Gamma Knife® is normally reloaded with new Cobalt 60 sources 6-8 years after installation. To facilitate reloading as efficiently and cost-effectively as possible, Elekta has designed a complete reloading package. This package consists of reloading, removal and long-term storage of used Cobalt.
With the reloading package, Elekta supports the continued success of Leksell Gamma Knife®, long after the initial investment. Cobalt 60 is a widely used and readily available isotope. In addition to a long history of use in the medical field, it is also used in large quantities for sterilization of food, cosmetics and other products requiring sanitary preparation.
