Elekta Tabletops

a flexible approach to patient support and positioning

Our open-systems philosophy ensures that Elekta are able to offer a range of tabletops to suit all clinical needs.

With the implementation of intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT ), image guided radiation therapy (IGRT ) and advanced stereotactic treatments, there is an increased emphasis on patient positioning and reproducibility as well as optimising image quality and minimizing beam attenuation. With these issues in mind the range of Elekta tabletops offer each clinic the flexibility to choose a tabletop best positioned to meet their needs and strengthen their ability to optimize treatment outcomes.

C-arm tabletop
– stability and flexibility

C-arm tabletop insert with tennis racket

  • C-arm table top offers a flexible and stable option for a range of clinical techniques including IMRT and stereotactic treatments on Precise Treatment System ™.
  • Removable side rails facilitate the attachment of a range of patient positioning accessories.
  • Patented C-arm design provides stability, optimising set-up accuracy, reproducibility, and flexibility in the range of treatment beam angles achievable without the need to move the patient.
  • The C-arm tabletop can be shortened by removal of a panel, this is of benefit in many techniques, particularly electron set-ups such as perineal fields, where user access and collision between couchtop and electron applicator may be an issue.

iBEAM® evo imaging couchtop
– for high precision radiation therapy

iBEAM evo couchtop

iBEAM® evo couchtop has been specifically designed to address the needs of high precision radiation therapy, particularly IGRT.

Eliminating artifacts
  • iBEAM evo couchtop is ideal for both kV and MV imaging modalities, it provides brilliant image quality and clarity, low and homogenous beam attenuation 2.40% at 6MV and high radiotranslucency. Constructed of carbon fiber the iBEAM evo couchtop has a unique advanced design which virtually eliminates artifacts.
  • iBEAM evo couchtop also provides the strength and rigidity required for precision techniques such as IMRT , IGRT , stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) and stereotactic radiation therapy (SRT ) allowing a maximum patient load of 200kg. iBEAM evo couchtop maintains a small profile which is ideal for Beam Modulator™ operations. The industry-best clearance offered by the Elekta range of linear accelerators is still maintained when using iBEAM evo couchtop.
Providing confidence in patient positioning
  • The iBEAM evo couchtop integrated indexing system enables accurate and simple reproduction of the patient set-up and position through the entire treatment process, minimizing patient setup inaccuracies and inadvertent positioning device movements. The indexing bars are designed for ease of set-up and provide fixation and indexing for a range of Medical Intelligence and other third-party accessories.
  • A variety of light, easy to attach extensions facilitate flexible patient positioning and the quick release mechanism ensures that patient set-up times are minimized. The head-and-neck extension maximizes patient clearance, optimizing beam angle positioning and treatment planning for complex non-coplanar and IMRT techniques. The iBEAM evo couchtop also supports implementation of intra and extracranial stereotactic techniques by providing integration with BodyFIX® and the Elekta range of head frames .

Carbon fiber tabletop
– improved accuracy and flexibility

Radiographer rotating iBEAM evo couchtop
Improved strength

The indexed carbon fiber tabletop AK550 has a single carbon fiber shell design which improves the strength of the tabletop design.

Optimized for IGRT
  • Designed with IGRT in mind, the indexed carbon fiber tabletop minimizes imaging artefacts and maintains the industry best clearance offered by the Elekta range of digital accelerators.
  • Carbon fiber mesh inserts at open panel or oblique side opening, reduce radiation attenuation while providing the rigidity to minimize tabletop sag and consequently improve accuracy.
Maximizing clinical throughput
  • The carbon fiber tabletop is optimized for clinical workflow efficiency. It has a rotational design which allows for rapid set-up changes between the open centre and oblique side opening.
  • To ensure clinical flexibility, the quick release carbon fiber extension panels and head-and-neck immobilization accessories can be applied to either end of the table. New accessory rails can be quickly and easily removed, and facilitate the attachment of a range of Aktina and third-party accessories. Unique indexing enables the fixation and positioning of accessories at 1cm intervals.

Elekta open systems philosophy

CIVCO Mastercounch and indexed patient positioning system

CIVCO Mastercouch® and Indexed Patient Positioning System™
  • The CIVCO Mastercouch and Indexed Patient Positioning System are a modular system offering a range of treatment modules dedicated to specific treatment areas. This concept optimises patient clearance and facilitates the delivery of complex treatment plans. The modules are also lightweight and can be easily exchanged between patients so patient throughput is maintained.
  • The sophisticated carbon fiber construction of the Mastercouch and Indexed Patient Positioning System ensures that attenuation and build-up are minimized while maximizing the couchtop rigidity. Mastercouch and Indexed Patient Positioning System also provides an indexing system via indexing pivots mounted along both sides of the couch, this enables the attachment of a range of CIVCO positioning accessories.
  • Both couches are compatible with any of the range of Elekta linear accelerators and are specifically designed for IGRT techniques.
CIVCO Indexed Patient Positioning System™ Table Overlay*

CIVCO indexed patient positioning system table overlay

  • The CIVCO Indexed Patient Positioning System Table Overlay is designed to provide quick, accurate and reproducible patient set-up and localization. The indexing system provides a means of fixing a range of CIVCO accessories and patient positioning devices to the tabletop surface in an reproducible way. The table overlay is constructed of a foam core and has a carbon fiber skin.
