fine resolution beam-shaping
Stereotactic treatments require high resolution beam-shaping to ensure accurate and precise shaping of dose and tumor targeting. Elekta offer solutions to meet a range of clinical needs.
Dynamic micro multileaf collimator
DMMLC offered by Elekta is the most versatile technology available today for fullfilling treatment requirements and is compatible with any Elekta linear accelerator and a range of linear accelerators from other vendors.
There are three dynamic micro multileaf add-on collimators to choose from providing a 3mm, 5mm and 7mm leaf width (at isocenter) and 7 x 7, 10 x 12 and 10 x 17 fieldsize (at isocenter), respectively. All options offer the facility for dynamic treatments and the improved homogeneity in target shaping, including minimising dose to critical organs, that this provides. The 3mm and 5mm dynamic micro multileaf collimators are certified for use up to 18MV making it an extremely versatile tool for steretoactic radiation therapy (SRT) and stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS).

To optimize beam-shaping provided by the Elekta add on dynamic micro MLC the leaves have been designed to be dual focussed, minimizing and homogenizing the penumbra. Leakage and unwanted dose outside the target area is limited by the unique design of the leaves and the 8cm leaf height.
All Elekta add on micro MLCs are designed for dynamic arc modulation:
- two independent gantry slope sensors determine precisely the gantry position and speed of rotation
- 48 end switches provide fast calibration and verification before any new field or arc, maximizing leaf position accuracy.
- continuous supervision of gantry position, speed and leaf position, results in beam interlock and rapid DMMLC closure if required, maximizing patient protection.
ERGO++
Support for treatment planning of techniques using either dynamic micro multileaf collimator (DMMLC) or stereotactic cones is provided by ERGO++ , as well as other third-party treatment planning systems. ERGO++ facilitates treatment planning of conventional stereotactic static fields as well as highly complex, static and dynamic arc techniques using the AMOA algorithm to ensure dose delivery is optimized.
QA Tools
To ensure the accuracy of classical stereotactic treatment delivery, an isocenter alignment control system is available. This QA system comprizes; film holder and QA tools , to facilitate accurate laser – isocenter alignment.
