Beijing, China, May 04, 2010 New tools to make radiation delivery more precise and easier to deliver met with enthusiasm In April, Elekta demonstrated new tools for clinical precision and workflow efficiency at two of the largest medical equipment exhibitions in Asia—the 22nd International Medical Instruments & Equipment Exhibition (ChinaMed) in Beijing and the 63rd China International Medicinal Equipment Fair (CMEF) in Shenzhen. Highlights included Elekta’s new image guided solutions for treating lung tumors, Symmetry™ and Intuity™ , as well as the introduction of MOSAIQ® for information management in the Chinese language. “Symmetry and Intuity completely change the approach when it comes to the treatment of lung tumors,” says Dee Mathieson, Senior Vice President, Oncology Business Line Management. “Symmetry provides tools to manage shifts in the relative positions of the tumor and organs-at-risk during the respiratory cycle, and Intuity ensures that not only is the tumor’s position accounted for, but also the position of nearby healthy critical structures. This contributes to a more patient-friendly and safe treatment.” During each exhibition, Elekta introduced MOSAIQ, which now supports the Chinese language. Elekta’s robust oncology information and image-enabled EMR system, MOSAIQ streamlines the entire therapy workflow from the first diagnosis and staging, through planning, treatment, follow-up and long-term survivorship.
