| Elekta’s multi-vendor commitment to Cancer Treatment Systems offers new Interoperability Brussels, Belgium, September 08, 2009 Edith Cavell Clinic uses MOSAIQ® 2.0 interface for flexible, efficient patient care Elekta is dedicated to advancing vendor-neutral open systems connectivity by providing flexible systems that integrate seamlessly with equipment from multiple manufacturers. So it’s no surprise the Edith Cavell Clinic (Brussels, Belgium) use Elekta MOSAIQ ® 2.0 and its next generation DICOM-enabled interface with the recently installed Siemens Artiste system. This interface was developed through a collaboration between Elekta Impac Software and Siemens.
Phillipe Warnier, M.D., of the Edith Cavell Clinic says the combination was an easy choice. “These are two very efficient systems,” he says. “We had already been using MOSAIQ for five years, and chose to upgrade to MOSAIQ 2.0 with the purchase of a new treatment system.”
MOSAIQ oncology information management system manages all aspects of patient care, including RT simulation, planning, setup, verification, delivery, review and analysis.* It’s capable of supporting any combination of treatment planning/delivery equipment, and enables customers to have access to the latest treatment techniques from major vendors.
Integrated with MOSAIQ radiation oncology is the MOSAIQ image-enabled electronic medical record (EMR), which supports the entire cancer care team by uniting diverse systems and devices. The ‘Integrating the Healthcare Environment for Radiation Oncology’ (IHE-RO) initiative seeks to improve the practice of radiation oncology through a standardized exchange of information. Working through the IHE-RO, Elekta Impac Software lead the way in promoting open systems standards, leveling the interoperability playing field and affording vendors greater latitude to focus on maximizing efficiency and achieving high patient throughput.
The Edith Cavell Clinic is currently treating about 25 patients a day, and Dr. Warnier hopes that within a month, that will grow to at least 40 patients a day. “Using MOSAIQ 2.0 helps us achieve our clinical vision and goals of accurate recording, high-quality imaging and patient safety.”
