Elekta has agreed to acquire Nucletron for EUR 365 million in cash. The acquisition is expected to be accretive to Elekta’s cash earnings within twelve months. The transaction remains subject to regulatory approval and is expected to close in early autumn 2011.

Delta4PT can be used with Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) and Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy (VMAT) techniques to provide complete pre-treatment QA that ensures that the dose prescribed in treatment plans is delivered accurately and safely to patients.

On April 13, Juntendo University (Tokyo, Japan) became the third facility in Japan to begin using Elekta Synergy® to treat prostate patients with Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy (VMAT). Using VMAT, treatment times can be dramatically shorter and treatment margins are much more conformal than with conventional IMRT. And VMAT requires significantly fewer MUs than conventional IMRT, reducing total MU delivery by up to 50 percent.

Vancouver, BC – The Canadian Association of Radiation Oncology (CARO), along with international medical-technology group Elekta, are pleased to award the 2008 CARO-Elekta Research Fellowship to Radiation Oncologist, Dr. Scott Carlyle Morgan. The $75,000 fellowship, provided by Elekta, will enable Dr. Morgan to conduct research with the Uro-Oncology Unit at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London, England with Professor David Dearnaley. Order bookings for the fourth quarter rose 40 percent to SEK 2,181 M (1,563), which is a record for a single quarter. Order backlog April 30, 2008 was also at a record level of SEK 5,069 (4,247) M.
• Net sales rose 12 percent to SEK 5,081 M (4,525). Based on unchanged exchange rates net sales rose 18 percent.
• Operating profit rose 28 percent to SEK 650 M (509) and operating margin was 13 percent (11).
• Profit after taxes was SEK 406 M (346). Profit per share after dilution was SEK 4.44 (3.70).
• Cash flow from operating activities improved by SEK 169 M to positive SEK 319 M (pos. 150). Cash flow after investments was negative SEK 280 M (neg. 107). Acquisitions were included with SEK 553 M (144).
• In fiscal year 2008/09, net sales are expected to grow by over 15 percent in local currency. Operating profit is expected to grow by more than 15 percent.
• The Board proposes a 75 percent increase of dividend of SEK 1.75 (1.00) per share, corresponding to around SEK 160 M and 39 percent of net profit. |

• Profit after taxes amounted to SEK 20 M (60). Earnings per share after dilution was SEK 0.22 (0.63).
• Cash flow from operating activities improved by SEK 84 M to negative SEK 28 M (neg. 112). Cash flow after investments was negative SEK 145 M (neg. 142). Acquisition was included with SEK 95 M (-).
