Beam Modulator™Elekta has developed Beam Modulator™ which offers high-resolution beam-shaping fully integrated with the linear accelerator. Beam Modulator is designed to meet the stringent needs of the rapidly evolving field of high-resolution extracranial stereotactic radiation therapy and intensity modulated radiation therapy. This, in combination with image guided radiation therapy, will open opportunities for increasing the target dose and minimizing dose to healthy tissue. Add-on DMLCElekta offer a range of fine resolution add-on DMLC beam-shaping options. Each add-on DMLC provides unique dual focus and low leakage leaves leading to the sharpest penumbra. When combined with dynamic arc delivery, DMLC can achieve high dose conformance and low dose shower.
The add-on DMLCs are compatible with range of linear accelerators including Varian, Siemens and Elekta. Elekta add-on DMLCs enhance the capabilities of any delivery system and are optimized to provide beam-shaping for a range of clinical workflows including: traditional SRS/SRT, image guided SRS/SRT, IMRT protocols and 3D conformal delivery.
The entire system can be securely mounted and calibrated within five minutes, using the Elekta add-on DMLC automated calibration procedure.
Upgrade enhancement optionsElekta now offer an upgrade to the add-on DMLC control system and software to all current 3D Line add-on DMLC users.This upgrade provides the following new features and functionality:
- increased life of the add-on DMLC connector and improved ease of connectivity
- improved safety and reliability of the DMLC leave positions through dual microswitch control
- improved connectivity with IMPAC MOSAIQ
- DICOM RT connectivity with third-party treatment planning systems.
This optional upgrade will also reduce the service activity required for the system and consequently increase clinical up time, while providing an ongoing platform for future add-on DMLC improvements.
Alternatively a software upgrade only package (available to some users) will provide improved workflow efficiencies through: improved connectivity with IMPAC MOSAIQ and
DICOM RT connectivity with third -party treatment planning systems.
