Elekta earns third straight Queen's Award

For the third consecutive year, Elekta has been awarded The Queen’s Award for Enterprise in the International Trade category, an acknowledgement of exceptional business success for a company with operations in the United Kingdom. The award is presented each year by the Queen on the advice of the prime minister, who is assisted by an advisory committee that includes representatives of government, industry and commerce, and the trade unions.

Why is this important to our customers?

Elekta won the award based on its third year in a row of continuous improvement in its overseas sales. Exports have more than doubled over the last six years and plans are in place for an expansion of Elekta’s Crawley office.

Elekta leads market average in several categories, according to latest MD Buyline report

As in many previous quarterly reports, MD Buyline's Q1 2014 report ranks Elekta highly for key technologies in radiation therapy. Elekta leads the market average in 2-year trend ratings (Q2 2012-Q1 2014) in the categories of oncology information management systems, stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) systems, remote afterloaders and treatment planning systems (TPS). Vendors are rated on a 1 to 10 scale according to user satisfaction with system performance, system reliability, system installation/implementation, applications training, service response time and service repair quality. MD Buyline clinical and IT analysts conduct interviews with hands-on users, including clinicians, physicians, biomedical engineers, physicists, nurses, CIOs and IT managers. Elekta’s ratings: OIS (9.1 v. Varian at 8.5), SRS (8.9), remote afterloader (8.9), TPS (9.0 v. Varian and Philips at 8.9)

MD Buyline has provided healthcare facilities with business intelligence for over 25 years. MD Buyline’s highly respected recommendations on linear accelerators, stereotactic radiosurgery, oncology information systems and treatment planning systems technologies are used by clinicians and senior management to investigate and validate purchasing decisions.

 

2013 Medtech report puts Elekta in top 5 of 65 companies

In the 2013 Medtech Value Creators Report, Elekta ranks fifth in a field of 65 medical-equipment manufacturers with a market valuation greater than $1 billion. The report was generated by The Boston Consulting Group, a global management consulting firm and the world’s leading advisor on business strategy. Rankings of medical-equipment manufacturers, in addition to medical-device companies, medical-supply companies and in vitro diagnostics companies – collectively the "medtech" sector – were based on the total shareholder return (TSR) percentage.

Why is this important to our customers?

According to the report, for more than 10 years, the medtech sector has outperformed the overall capital market in terms of financial performance. It has generated a TSR of 279 percent since 2001, substantially beating the MSCI World Index, which returned 98 percent over the same period.

Elekta Wins IOP Innovation Award for Development of Agility MLC

The Institute of Physics (IOP) recently named Elekta as one of the companies chosen to receive an IOP Innovation Award for physics innovation in the UK and Ireland. One of five recipients, the company was selected based on the development of our Agility™ multileaf collimator. The innovative design of Agility, based on physics research and development, utilizes industry-leading technology to provide faster, more accurate, and more versatile radiation therapy for individuals with cancer.

 

Leksell Gamma Knife® Perfexion™ Named Best in KLAS for Radiation Therapy

In June 2013, Leksell Gamma Knife® Perfexion™ earned the number one ranking for radiation therapy in the KLAS research firm’s recently released 2013 Best in KLAS Awards: Medical Equipment & Infrastructure report. This is the second consecutive year in which Perfexion has won the Best in KLAS award for radiation therapy.

Why is this important to our customers?

This was an independent report from healthcare executives and professionals carried out by KLAS, which gathered performance rating over the past 12 months for medical equipment and infrastructure vendors. In the report, Perfexion scored 92.9 out of 100, and 96 percent of customers indicated they would buy again. On a 1 to 9 scale, Perfexion received an 8.7 from respondents for satisfaction with product uptime, the highest score among all vendors rated in the market segment.

 

MOSAIQ® Oncology Software Solution awarded Best of KLAS for 2012 – two years in a row!

In December, customers ranked Elekta’s MOSAIQ® Oncology Information System (OIS) first in a survey by KLAS, an independent research firm. The recently released 2012 Best in KLAS Awards: Software & Services report showed that MOSAIQ scored 80.1 out of 100 and 87 percent of customers indicated they would buy again. This final KLAS survey of the year puts MOSAIQ at the top for 2012.

Why is this important to our customers?

The KLAS awards are based on data from customer surveys of hospital and clinic executives, administrators, physicians, nurses and other directors and managers interacting with healthcare equipment and infrastructure solutions. According to KLAS, Best in KLAS designations go to solutions that have excelled in their respective market segments, that show the vendor’s leadership in working with customers to resolve issues and match expectations to reality, and that have the broadest operational and clinical impact to healthcare organizations.

 

Elekta Voted Outstanding Organization of the Year in the National Management and Leadership Awards 2012

The National Management & Leadership Awards, in association with Chartered Management Institute, recently named Elekta the 2012 Outstanding Organization of the Year. The awards, now in their third year, mark the achievements and expertise of the U.K.’s best managers and management teams, recognizing exceptional endeavor among the most forward-thinking organizations. The Outstanding Organization award is presented to an organization that has demonstrated organizational excellence and strategic and innovative growth for future success.

 

Elekta Technology at Work in All of America’s Top Cancer Hospitals

US News

In July, the US News & World Report published their list of top Hospitals in the US. They also publish specialty hospitals and their rankings. For the first time ever, Elekta products are in 50 of the top 50 cancer hospitals in the US. Elekta issued a press release regarding this in August 2012.

Why is this important to our customers?

This ranking, for the lay public, provides a tool to help them compare hospitals and understand centers that have high expertise in cancer care. For hospitals, who are competing for patients and “bragging rights” in a very competitive environment, this allows them to point to an independent source of data. For Elekta, this is an indicator that our solutions are prized by all of the top centers ranked in this report.

 

Elekta Connexion Couchtop Wins "red dot award: product design 2012"

Red Dot

An international panel selected Elekta's Connexion™ couchtop to receive the red dot award: product design 2012 for its design in the "Life Science and Medicine" product category. Designers and manufacturers worldwide submitted 4,515 designs to this product competition. Approximately 1,000 international guests from design, business, politics and the media will gather at the Aalto Theatre (Essen, Germany) on July 2, 2012 for a gala to award the internationally recognized quality label. Connexion will then be exhibited for four weeks at the red dot design museum.

Why is this important to our customers?

The red dot award is among the world’s largest and most distinguished industrial design competitions, and the red dot award itself has established itself internationally as one of the most respected quality marks for outstanding design. With more than 1,500 products on an area exceeding 4,000 square metres, the red dot design museum hosts the world’s largest temporary exhibition of design. This special exhibition of award-winning design will be held July 3-29, 2012. At the "Design on stage – winners red dot award: product design 2012," enthusiasts can admire the latest trends up-close. Touching is explicitly requested. Visitors can experience the prize-winning design of Connexion from Elekta in the breathtaking atmosphere of the one-time boiler house of Zeche Zollverein, a former coalmine.

In April 2012, Elekta received The Queen's Award for Enterprise 2012 in the International Trade category. The Award is the U.K.’s highest accolade for business success given each year by the Queen on the advice of the prime minister, who is assisted by an Advisory Committee that includes representatives of government, industry and commerce, and the trade unions.

Why is this important to our customers?

To be eligible, Elekta had to show that our business achieved substantial growth in overseas earnings and in commercial success. The level must be considered ‘outstanding’ for our business size and sector. The Queen’s Award for Elekta acknowledged the company’s continuous improvement in the company’s overseas sales, in addition to our steady growth of exports, calculated at 131 percent over the last six years.
